My first time doing a first episode! Gosh, I’m excited.
1. KYU-WON ARRIVES IN KOREA
For the first look of the series, Kyu-won wears a blue shirt dress with capped sleeves. If you look closely, there’s a small blue pattern all over the dress.
She accessorizes with a brown belt, red sneakers and a blue backpack with brown details and straps which nicely match her belt. She also has on a dainty necklace which is five hearts made up to form a flower. I suppose the collar was purposely flattened out to showcase the necklace. So cute!
2. SHIN ARRIVES IN KOREA
And for Shin’s airport fashion, he wears a cotton V-neck t-shirt, black jeans and a cobalt blue blazer with a line of three buttons on the side of the sleeves. This marks Shin’s Series of Blazers that are Absolutely Important. At least in this episode, anyway.
Accessories are a silver watch, silver circular studs, white and gray sneakers, white headphones, a white backpack…
…and a white bicycle. Who said you couldn’t match your bike to your outfit?
3. KYU-WON’S FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL
Kyu-won goes from day to night in a pink striped top tucked into a black knee-length skirt which has a layer of black tulle over it. So great for swishing around.
She adds to her outfit a tiny bead necklace, a pink watch, gray shoes and a pink and black bag worn as a cross-body bag.
I really like how she pairs a relatively more formal skirt with casual sneakers to casual-fy the entire outfit and make it appropriate for school. The gray shoes also add a different pop of colour to the general pink and black theme but doesn’t take the attention away from the overall outfit.
4. SHIN’S FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL
On to the next colour of Shin’s blazers – this time a baby pink. I find pink a hard colour for guys to pull off, but baby pink is decidedly easier, I think. Shin wears the same V-neck shirt and jeans combo, though the jeans are blue this time, topping it off with the baby pink blazer.
The sleeves of his blazer are folded up to his elbows and the inner layer showcases a pattern of red, white and black lines.
Shin also has on silver cross studs, which he wears for the rest of the episode, and a tan backpack with brown straps and a bright blue detail around the bottom of it. He also rides a silver bicycle. Seems like he alternates between his white and silver bikes.
Has anyone noticed what I just realized myself too? Shin and Kyu-won have colour-coordinated outfits. Okay, it’s still early so read on people.
5. YOON-SU’S FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL
Yoon-su wears a black dress with a white blazer/cape with high slits where the sleeves should be. She accessorizes with blue studs, a pearl necklace with a silver bead in the center, a few bracelets, a black handbag and black heels with many buckle details.
She later gathers her hair into a low ponytail.
6. SHIN’S SECOND DAY AT SCHOOL
Again, the sleeves are folded up to the elbows and the inside of it has a white detail. The blazer also has a white pocket square, though I’m pretty sure it’s not real.
Shin accessorizes with a silver watch, a brown backpack and what looks to be purple and gray Nikes.
7. KYU-WON’S SECOND DAY AT SCHOOL
Kyu-won goes for a gray top tucked into a dark blue ankle-length skirt. The gray top has a really cute hot pink elephant print on the front.
Accessories are a red watch, red peep-toe flats and a blue bag with black straps.
8. YOON-SU IN THE DANCE STUDIO
Yoon-su practises a ballet routine in a black cami, black leggings and a fluttery maxiskirt in a gorgeous light purple. She also ties the attached ribbon of her skirt into a bow at the side. She, of course, wears ballet shoes.
9. HEE-JOO IN THE DANCE STUDIO
Hee-joo wears a really cute dance outfit that consists of a short sleeve gray top with a gathered detail at the sides, a hot pink cami underneath and a light pink tiered skirt. She accessorizes with black leggings with a side zipper, and black sneakers.
Please excuse the blurriness! The camera used in the first three eps is so horrible that when anyone moves at all, it becomes this blurry.
10. SHIN AND KYU-WON’S MUSICAL MONTAGES
In this rapid musical montage, Shin and Kyu-won go for black and white looks. Shin wears a white tee with black jeans and a black blazer and finally tops it off with a minimalist necklace.
Kyu-won pairs a white top with fluttery short sleeves and a black neckline with a long black skirt. The shirt has a cute face on the front and is knotted at the right. She also accessorizes with a green watch and a dainty necklace.
11. SHIN AT SCHOOL
While riding his white bike, Shin wears a gray V-neck tee with blue jeans and a colourful pastel zipper jacket. To break it down, the front and back are beige, the shoulders and sleeves are blue, the collar is a pale yellow and it’s black at the ends of the sleeves and around the bottom of the jacket. It also has a zipper detail at the side of the sleeves.
Accessories are a silver watch with a purple face, which is probably the same one he wears throughout the episode, a purple sling bag and gray sports shoes.
12. YOON-SU AT SCHOOL
Yoon-su wears a white dress and accessorizes with two different types of chain necklaces, a blue and gold bracelet, a brown watch and what looks like a half moon manicure with a hot pink colour.
13. SHIN’S FLASHBACK TO MEETING YOON-SU
Shin wears his essential white tee and dark blue jeans with a yellow and gray cardigan with the sleeves pushed up to the elbows. He accessorizes with a dark brown bag and brown/green sneakers with white socks.
14. KYU-WON PERFORMING
A blue themed look for Kyu-won with a printed blue baggy top, which has a orange print and black words on the front, stripy blue and white scarf, long black skirt, which might be the same one worn earlier, and blue sneakers which might also be the same as the ones worn earlier. Actually, the blue, red and gray sneakers Kyu-won wears in this episode might all be the same model but they’re just in different colours.
She pulls it all together with a brown square bag worn as a cross-over bag, which has a braided strap detail.
15. HEE-JOO AT THE CLUB
Hee-joo wears a white top tucked into cobalt blue shorts and tops it off with a brown and white striped blazer with a stand-up collar. She accessorizes with a beaded necklace, a few rope bracelets, an orange bag and white and black heels.
16. KYU-WON AND SHIN CLASH
I didn’t like Shin’s last look here, sadly, so I shall keep it short. He wears a baggy white knit sweater paired with bright blue jeans. Only accessories are green sneakers.
While practising her gayageum, Kyu-won again wears a long skirt. I would think that since Kyu-won is a gayageum player, it’s easier to wear long skirts since she has to constantly sit on the floor, which explains the many looks with long skirts. She wears a fitted striped black and white top with a baggy tie-dye blue and white top over it. A brooch of what looks like many safety pins is also attached to her left lapel.
Final accessories are a white watch and a dainty ribbon necklace.
We have reached the end of this episode! I’m not sure if the colour coordinating continues for the entire series, but for this episode, I feel that it was pretty emphasized, especially in the first three scenes Shin and Kyu-won were in together. It’s not as pronounced in the latter half, but there’s either a top or bottom that either Shin or Kyu-won is wearing that is within the same colour family. It went from blue to pink to blue and back and forth to B&W to blue again.
And I have to say that Shin is such a good male fashionista. While the tees and jeans can get a little repetitive, the outerwear makes all the difference. Read: blazers. And all the colours! Especially all the pastel ones. Normally, I would associate menswear with boring blacks, blues, grays, browns… but here, his clothes are purposely kept bright and colourful. Let’s hope this continues!
